Scarf all hail from the limbo between East London and Essex.
Vincent Lynes (vocals and guitar), Ben Guichard
(bass) and John Baker (guitar), came together after Vince expressed his love for northern soul and classic British song writing
to John and Ben.
His aim was to start a classic British band
in the mould of all those previous great writers of the past and present.
After long searches for a drummer, Scarf finally
invited Chris Allen to take up the stool. A fantastic inclusion for the band, fitting the job of timing
and movement just nicely!
After gigging around London for a while, Scarf decided
that an extra something was needed.
The problem was solved with addition of good
friend and two-tone expert Kevin Essien (vocals and organ), adding a depth to the sound and making Scarf complete.
Scarf continue to add new material to their cannon and are never afraid to show their influences. Their style
harks back to the maximum RnB of The Creation and The Who, through to classic British songwriters like Marriott/Lane and Davies.
Not forgetting the other side of the pond there is also great admiration for the American writers of the past (Motown/Stax),
whose influence can also be heard.
Ever onwards and upwards, gaining recognition
and respect, scarf look forward to a bright future ……
